I love Thanksgiving! Not only because there is awesome food, but we always get put in charge of name cards for dinner! It’s fun to design, and carry out something fun and original for each member of our family.

I have always been one to do everything possible to save money, so this year I came up with 5 super inexpensive name cards inspired by nature! These are all super simple, and I even have a fun freebie for you as well!

For all of these name cards I simply typed out the name of each individual and printed them. Each of the name cards ended up being about 1.5 inches tall and 3 inches wide, but you can do whatever size works for you! These are all done in my font Northerly which is currently on sale through Thanksgiving!

Pinecones

Easy Pinecone Place setting

Pine cones are a great way to hold a name card! They’re flat on the bottom and have lots of different slats that the paper can fit into!

These ones were painted white to tone them down a little bit and then laid on top of the place setting.

I already had these laying around as various decorations in my house! But there are pinecones with wider bases that would sit on their own if you didn’t want to put them on your place setting!

I love how simple and beautiful these pinecones look as a name card holder!

Green Stems

Floral Name Card

Whether you choose to use real stems or fake, this is such a beautiful display!

This would even look great with a little stem or baby’s breathe or a small flower!

I chose to go with a few stems from some fake plants, but you can see how easy it would be to recreate this look!

Many floral shops will just sell greenery to you without the flowers, so ask the florist before tearing apart a beautiful bouquet just for the greenery!

Or hit up the floral aisle at the store and opt for some fake flower greenery to do the job!

Other Fancy Fonts!

Twigs

Simple Name card

Of all the nature inspired looks, this one is my favorite!

I just love the little twigs and how nicely they hold up the name card.

I didn’t glue these together and didn’t have any problems getting the name card to stand up.

However if you are worried about the name cards falling or the twigs getting played with I would definitely recommend some hot glue!

I just pulled these off the ground near one of the trees in my yard, and then made them all similar lengths and piled them together.

Then I placed the name card better two of the twigs and Voila! A beautiful and simple name card!

Pebbles

Pebble Name Cards

I was a bit skeptical of this idea when it came to mind, but figured I would see it though.

And I was surprised at how much I liked the look of this!

We just used little pebble rocks from our yard, but anything you have around would totally work!

I did rinse them off of any residual dirt from being outside, since no one wants to have dirt on their table for Thanksgiving dinner!

I put a couple of rocks behind the name card and one in front, with the name card being held between the two, and then add a few more rocks to the front!

If you have lots of small rocks on hand, this is a great nature inspired name cards for dinner for any occasion!

Leaves

Leaf inspired name cards

Our leaves are so dry and crumbly right now they’re the perfect fall leaf! What better item to use for your name cards for dinner than leaves!

I took a knife and carefully cut a slit into one of the leaves to stick the name card into! It took a couple of attempts since our leaves are so dry already!

Then I just slid the name card in and put a couple of other leaves around it and was done!

Super simple, fast and beautiful!

Plus the colors of the leaves likely match all your other Thanksgiving decor!

Thanksgiving Centerpieces

This was a super simple centerpiece to make! I used 3 small pumpkins, yes they’re real. Skewers, tape, and the printable from the Freebies Vault.

Cut out the Printable, fold it in half, and tape it in place on the skewer!

Stick the skewer into the pumpkin, and enjoy your lovely centerpieces!

I paired them with some red burlap ribbon and some cotton stems!

Super simple, yet very natural, and beautiful!
