I’m sure you’re already doubting what could possibly be done in a 3 minute morning routine to improve your day! But seriously, this simple and quick morning routine is sure to make a difference in how your day starts!

So, backstory, I really hate having a messy house, and yet the room that always seems the most neglected is my master bedroom! Usually in the hustle of getting ready and keeping kids happy, my bedroom ends up ripped apart! Toys on the floor, everything from my makeup drawer thrown on the floor, you know a mess from kids!

I rarely go up to our master bedroom during the day, so when it rolls around for us to go to bed, it’s totally discouraging to walk into my trashed room! Over the last few months I have implemented a new routine in the morning that has made a huge difference in how I feel when we head up to bed. It’s also been a great way to start the day, and accomplish some small, but impactful items every morning!

Make your bed!

Did you know it takes less than one minute to make your bed? Seriously, I’ve timed it. Multiple times! I can even make my bed with a baby in my arms in under a minute! And I have 8 pillows on my bed, and a throw blanket. And yes still just ONE minute.

It makes such a difference when I walk into my bedroom and the bed is made. It’s like a one minute gift to myself every morning. Plus I love getting into a bed at night that doesn’t have sheets everywhere and is a mess!

I got into the habit of making my bed every morning, and it has really made a different in how I feel in the morning. On top of that, how awesome that you can accomplish something that makes a difference in just ONE minute!

Praying or Meditating

Woman praying

I have always struggled to remember to pray in the morning! No matter what reminders I gave myself, I just didn’t remember! With my morning routine, I have found it lots easier to remember!

After my bed is made it’s the perfect time to kneel down and say my morning prayers! I feel like it has definitely helped my day go smoother, and makes me more aware of what I am trying to work on for the day!

Standing up after morning prayers and having my bed made helps me feel accomplished in just a short amount of time. It’s a great way to start my day off on the right foot so I can accomplish everything I have planned.

Opening the blinds

Open the Blinds

The last thing I do in my 3 minute morning routine is to open the blinds in my master bedroom and the rest of the house! I love having the natural light come in through my house all day. We have lots of windows and natural light. So we typically don’t even turn the lights on our main floor on until we eat dinner in the evening.

Opening the blinds may seem like a simple task that won’t really make a difference in your day, but it really does! Try it for a few days if you don’t, and embrace that natural light!

Now that I have experienced the positive effects of my morning routing, I have encouraged my kids in making their beds everyday, and saying their morning prayers. Their beds may take more than one minute to make, (like 10 minutes!) but they feel proud of their accomplishment! They have also realized that they like to have their beds made everyday!

Taking 3 minutes in the morning to complete these simple tasks will help improve your day, mood, and overall feel of your home! And if you’re like me, once you feel accomplished in the morning, it just keeps going throughout the day! Give it a go, and let me know how it goes!
